In collaboration with the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable groups and fostering equality, solidarity, and tolerance in society, the Kruševac Juvenile Correctional Facility has launched an innovative project titled “Dog Adoption and Training in the Juvenile Correctional Facility Kruševac”. The project is funded by the Divac Foundation in partnership with CRI Institute.

The initiative, which began on November 15, 2024, and will run until March 15, 2025, aims to rehabilitate juveniles by engaging them in dog training and care. Through this process, participants will acquire practical skills, develop empathy, and strengthen their emotional stability, all while preparing the dogs for adoption into loving homes.

Project Highlights:

  • Skill Development: 20 Juveniles are provided with hands-on training opportunities, helping them build better social relationships and gain experiences that will aid in their future reintegration into society.
  • Long-Term Impact: The project includes infrastructure upgrades such as new kennels and a training field, as well as training local facility officers to ensure the program’s sustainability beyond its duration.
  • Professional Opportunities: By earning a certification in dog training, participants will have increased employability in animal care fields after their reintegration.
  • Community Benefits: The project promotes social responsibility and animal welfare, encouraging dog adoption and creating a ripple effect of positive change in the broader community.

The Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation’s mission aligns perfectly with the goals of this project, as it seeks to empower vulnerable groups by integrating them into society and strengthening values of equality and tolerance.
