Center for rehabilitation through imagination
“Center for rehabilitation through imagination” is registered non-governmental organization dealing with social rehabilitation and stimulation of innovative potential through the creation of poetry, theater and play aimed at minority social groups, socially maladjusted persons, prisoners, inclusive individuals, people with psychiatric disorders, as well as the healthy population. Center particularly focuses on the theater meetings with personal and social problems of persons serving a prison sentence, enabling them to develop life skills that will facilitate their successful reintegration into society. Center produced several projects with the inmates of the Belgrade District Prison, as well as with patients of the Clinic for mental disorders "Dr Laza Lazarevic". After the play done with the inmates of the Belgrade District Prison "Notes from the cell number 12", that has been performed seventeen times at institutions and in the biggest Serbian prisons and for the public at Belgrade Youth Center, documentary with the same title was filmed. Documentary "Notes of the cell number 12", epilogue of theater performances with Serbian inmates had premiere on the international conference in New York. After the premiere, movie went on a tour of American prisons. It is shown in federal prisons in Michigan, Kentucky and San Quentin, as part of rehabilitation for the American convicts. The founder of the organization and the author of the projects is Marina Kovačević.
